What's the difference between Cross-Cut design and Single Hole?
Cross Cut - The cross cut version allows your child to determine when they are ready to feed. By gently applying pressure to the nipple, the cross cut opens to allow the flow of fluid. The cross cut version is also no spill. When the bottle is held upside down or knocked over nothing comes out. All of thinkbaby's bottles come outfitted with cross cut nipples and this is our #1 selling style of nipple.
Although we have found that most parents prefer the cross cut nipple, it does require the parent stay on top of having the appropriate flow rate. Please see recommended rates above. Single hole nipples vent faster, which is why just about all bottle companies sell it with their.
Single Hole Nipples- The single hole flow allows for a continuous flow of liquid. This allows for a little more variance in the suggested flow rates above. The single hole nipples are labeled “Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3” depending on flow rate.
thinkbaby also recommends not overtightening the collar of the bottle, as this will restrict airflow back into the bottle.
* The flow rates and age ranges are suggested ranges. Parent’s will have to best determine the desired feeding rate of their little ones. Your child’s consumption rates differ by needing more or less than the suggested range. A note for any type of silicone nipples used. Silicone nipples are designed to last 2 to 3 months. They should be discarded if they show signs of wear and tear. Never give the nipple to a baby as a play toy. Always supervise your child during feeding. |
